It had been revealed by the word of God the level and the intimacy of the relationship Almighty God desired to have with man. This intimacy is completely perfected in a Father and son unity. This is reflected in John's revelation as to our true identity in Christ..."But as many as receive him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." John 1:12. It is clear that whosoever receives Jesus Christ, the Son of God must be transformed into the nature which defines who the Son is, so that we too must become sons of God, in His image, just as He is. There is no question that Jesus is the Son of God, as confirmed by the Spirit to John..."Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him and he in God."1 John 4:15...So it follows that whosoever gives their lives to Jesus Christ must be converted into His nature. We cannot submit to the Spirit of the Son and emerge in a different spirit. It would be like a mango tree producing figs, which we know is not possible. If we are not converted into sons of God, then we are not in Christ and therefore cannot walk in His nature, character, functions and purpose. It follows that our true identity lies in the Son of God, as John, again, stated in his writings..."Behold, What manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not because it knew him not." 1 John 3:1. In part two, we will look at why the word "Christian" has come to wrongfully define us, over the years and more so today.
